Andrea Polinelli is a composer, performer, educator, and researcher. His musical experiences span jazz, cinema, dance, and the visual arts, characterised by an approach that mainly uses improvisation as a creative tool. He graduated in Saxophone, Jazz, and Music Education, and has taught Jazz History and Improvisation at Italian conservatories. He has held a series of masterclasses on the History of Italian Jazz at the City College of New York and the University of Southern Maine, USA. For six years, he was the Director of the Big Band at the Saint Louis Music College in Rome. He is the author of the documentary *Un passo avanti* about dancer Roberta Garrison. He translated the book *Alla periferia* (On the Periphery), a biography of David Sylvian written by Christopher Young, and later, together with pianist Antonio Magli, released the album *Visions of Sylvian* through Alfamusic. He is also a founding member of the Fonderia delle Arti in Rome, a multimedia educational and performance space.
